When I tell people that I am a health coach, one of the most common follow-up questions is “what do you do?”

And understandably so, because the term “health coach” is pretty broad and rather ambiguous! Depending on the specific niche of a health coach, the job description can be quite varied.

My Job Description

As a pregnancy and postpartum health coach, my job, put simply, is to help moms and moms-to-be experience vibrant, whole-person health so that they are able to fully enjoy the beauty of motherhood.

This means a lot of things and will be different for each individual, because each person is unique. Each one has her own strengths and weaknesses. Each one has her own goals and dreams. Each one has her own health history and future. Each one has her own unique body.

But one thing I always do when working with a client is to keep the “coaching” part real! My job is not to give you a long list of things to do or changes to implement, but rather to come alongside you as an individual and help you find the answers that you are looking for.

My job is to cheer you on as you reach your goals, to encourage you and motivate you when you feel like giving up, to be a place for you to come with your struggles and be heard.

My job is to be a resource for you and help you whenever I can, and point you to other experts to help you when I am not qualified.

A health coach offers inspiration and accountability, motivation and encouragement, resources and new ideas. And a health coach offers a lot of knowledge along with practical steps to achieve your goals.

As a pregnancy and postpartum health coach, I work with women who want to get pregnant, are currently pregnant, or are postpartum (and anyone who has ever had a baby is postpartum!). This means I coach women who are experiencing any of the following scenarios:

How I am Different than a Medical Professional

It’s important to note that I am a health coach, not a medical professional. This means that I will COACH you, not prescribe anything or give medical advice. I help people master habit change in lifestyle, which leads to big results, but I do not treat any diseases or anything like that.

Having said that, the vast majority of illness, obesity, and other health issues are completely preventable through lifestyle changes, and your best chance at having a healthy, vibrant life comes from living the lifestyle that leads to that life.

I am here to help you do just that! I love being a part of positive change in my clients, and am so thrilled to be able to do it specifically with women in one of the most beautiful seasons of life - motherhood.
